        Susan,

I'm not talking about "home use" computers such as gagways or low end H-P:
I was referring to "commercial use" desktop workstations (such as the IBM
IntelliStation) and "enterprise use" servers (such as the Compaq ProLiant).

For "home use" computers, which are sold with very thin margins, very
little is budgeted for tech support. However, for mid-level and high end
products, first rate tech support is budgeted into the price. Apple *USED
TO* have 24/365 tech support for AppleShare Server software and Apple
Workgroup Servers (like the AWS-95 and WGS-9150/120). But now, forget it.
Even Apple's *PREMIUM PRODUCT* support is "Dial-A Prayer."

        Cheers!
        Dan

P.S.: For Dell, make sure you have the Express Service code so you can
punch it in to your phone and bypass most of the waiting. There's a 5
character alphanumeric label on the back of your CPU, and then you go to
Dell's web site to convert it to a ~9 digit numeric code.
