As far as the Wintel support, I have not used MS Windows support in over a
year or so, my last experience was great. They had two numbers, one was the
normal FREE number, and another a priority number, where you pay $15 per
incident or whatever but get in with no waiting. I am not sure if you are
talking about a new policy with MS or not (somebody feel free to enlighten
me on their new policies), but that will lead me into the next issue.

When you buy a computer from Dell, Compaq, or whoever, all those computers
come with at least basic one year support. The high end servers may come
with 24/365 support as was mentioned later. However, whoever you buy the
computer from, supports the entire thing, from the keyboard to Windows, to
the hardware, you simply don't have to call multiple vendors. This would
only occur if you built the computer from scratch obviously, but that was
not what was being talked about.

So no, for the first year you don't have to pay anybody for any support
(assuming you didn't build the computer or get it from a screwdriver shop)
and you only have to call one number for all your support.

As it was said so well, "Sure, there's a couple of people who have bad
experiences, but, they're not the majority." This can apply of course to
both sides.
