Are you using OS 9 or something later? If it is 9.0 then immediately upgrade
to at least 9.0.4, preferably 9.1. Do the usual Disk First Aid, Disk
Warrior, Norton Disk Doctor, Tech Tools directory repair. I have several old
900's running OS 9.1 on cable, DSL and T1's under DHCP and static at
various clients. There should be no problem unless there is a hardware
problem with the ethernet port. Does this machine behave correctly if File
Sharing is turned on with another Mac?
