    Thanks for the suggestion, but the files are typically sent from an Alpha (VMS) to the printers. I've modified the procedure now so the files containing the HPGL commands are saved rather than being deleted once printed. I've d'loaded one of these files to a file server from which it can be accessed by either Mac or Win desktop systems. So now I'm trying out some of the earlier suggestions.

    In looking at the contents of the file the data is the basic HPGL stuff: Pen Up X,Y - Pen Down X,Y - etc. I found I had a grqphics conversion utility named GraphicConverter which I have used for image conversion (TIFF, BMP, JPEG, GIF, etc.) never thought about it converting from HPGL, but it's documentation says it does. Hasn't worked so far, but I still have some embedded end-of-line characters that I probably have to scrub away first.
