That should be expected since internal AirPort cards are connected to an
antenna threaded through the Mac's case.
I used an ORiNOCO PC Card (their InterCaps) in a Dell ultraportable and an
AirPort Base Station last night. Worked like a charm. BTW, the Dell
Latitude LS is a sweet 3 1/2 lbs.

But isn't that the whole point of Location Manager and the Configurations
windows in AppleTalk, TCP/IP, etc.? If you can't change the medium
AppleTalk uses, what *can* you switch between with Location Manager?
