I may be in a position where I need to setup a web server that will
serve large files on the Internet (not a LAN). The hardware will be
a Pentium due to the expertise of the hardware consultant (not a
flexible issue). What I want to do is decide what I need in the way
of hardware and software. I will need to password protect web pages
with individual passwords.
As a long time Mac user who will be crossing the line, I thought I
would ask for advice here. I am not a UNIX admin person or a
Windows genie, although I have used and enjoyed both operating
systems. I need to make my choices and get up to speed fairly
quickly. Complex solutions involving my becoming a UNIX guru in 8
weeks are not feasible, however optimal those solutions.
Any advice to get me started would be very much appreciated.
