Joe,

I've got a 7300 w/the 166 Pentium. Regardless of model (for Apple at least)
the modem access through the PC Setup COM port is limited in speed. Mac's
don't allow RS-232 RTS hardware handshaking. The max speed is 14.4 or there
abouts. I used to try it myself w/a Motorola 28.8.

The printer sharing is similarly fussy in my opinion. I've opted for
putting in the Apple Serial/Parallel card. It's a PCI card which adds a PC
serial port and an ECP parallel port. In my case I've got a separate modem
for the Mac and the PC. I've also got 2 cables, Mac or PC, going to our
Epson printer. The PC parallel port also allows me to use the hardware
dongle for a specialty CADCAM program I need.

This setup would more truly gauge the browser experience for a Win95
client. Further, (I may sound a little paranoid here...) the S/P card helps
to keep the Mac & PC functions separated. I think that's a good thing. I
use a shared drive for transfers but never enable the PC Clipboard. I get
less blue screens than on my PC at the office (can't remember the last one)
and the Mouse button problems I used to get (Kensington "Thinking Mouse")
are much rarer.
