The big plus for DAVE is that it allows a Mac to access the NT without
AppleTalk. So the NT Server DOES NOT have to run Services For Macintosh.
It simplifies management of volumes and privileges. Also, DAVE bypasses
the bottlenecks of AppleTalk. Performance is better. It seems pretty
well integrated into the MacOS and you don't have to change anything on
your existing NT servers to add Mac clients.
If you looked at DAVE version 1.0, go back and look at 2.0. They seem to
have cleaned up the interface and installation.
PS: I'm not using DAVE because in previous versions I found a few
quirks, but I am in the process of re-evaluating DAVE 2.0. NetDoublerNT
is another option for performance gains, but it requires an addition to
the NT server and the Mac clients!
