Subject: Discussion Topic: Cross-Platform File Compression...

Hello,

I don't know if this is appropriate to ask or not, but I am in the
process of building products for both Mac and Windows that do file
compression, segmentation, joining and expansion for easier
cross-platform exchanging of files and wanted to know what you think are
the biggest impediments to accomplishing this task.
How important is it that the format used to compress include both Mac
file and Windows file information? I know today that ZIP does not, so
is this important?
Is the amount of compression (smaller files) very important?
What features would you want to have the most to facilitate your
cross-platform file exchanging needs?
I thank you for your candid discussion, suggestions and participation.
If this is inappropriate for the mail list, I apologize.
Sincerely,

Rakesh Chabra
