I have a Netgear MR814. I didn't try very hard but I found it does *not*
route AppleTalk over the wireless network. This fits with what I've read
online as well. It's predecessor, the MR314, supposedly *did* route
AppleTalk over the wireless network but it's been discontinued and you can
only find it through online auctions.

This page seems to have a list of wireless gateways and a chart of features,
    including AppleTalk compatibility.

The download page for the 2.0.4 version includes the new features.

The AirPort software is probably all you'll need. Don't worry about 128bit
encryption vs. 40/64bit encryption, due to the flaws in WEP the difference
is marginal. I would have saved a few bucks and bought the Orinoco Silver
card. In fact, I did :-) There have been drivers for Mac OS 8-9 before
Proxim bought Orinoco. You can probably find them online.
