Doh! My cables were not connected properly to the Ethernet hub. Now I can see
my SuSE box in the Chooser, but have another problem:

In OS 9.1, I choose the Chooser from the Apple menu, choose AppleShare -->
"my SuSE Linux box", click "OK", connection status is first verified. I then
get a non-standard log-in dialog for a registered user:

"Connect to the file server "my computer" as:
Registered User"

Instead of a blank form (space) for "name" and "password", I am presented
with a scroll bar for each. When I run the arrow cursor over each, it turns
into a text cursor and I am unable to scroll up or down in either field. I
assume this is controlled by the netatalk configuration, but I understood
from the documentation, that a registered user on SuSE Linux can de facto log
onto the SuSE box from another computer. This doesn't seem to be the case,
however.

Cheers,

Brian
