I've configured a lot of printers and print queues but I've run across a
problem that just doesn't seem to make any sense I was hoping someone
    might be able to help.

A few months ago I was trying to setup an HP LaserJet 4 Plus for use in
our computer store repair area. I setup a print queue on our WinNT 4.0
Server that prints to it via TCP/IP (LPR port). I then added the
computer store group to the printer's security/permissions section and
gave them full control. It works fine whenever I or my boss prints to
it (we're network administrators) but whenever someone in the computer
store group tries to print to it the job hangs in the print queue and it
just says error without any further information. I even added the
individual users to the printer's security/permissions section with full
control, thinking there might be a problem with the group permissions
    but that didn't help any.

In desperation I finally install TCP/IP Printing on each person's
workstation in the computer store repair area and had them print
directly to the printer (using an LPR port), by-passing the server print
queue and that worked just fine but I still don't know why they can't
print through the server print queue.

More recently, I just ran into the same problem with an HP LaserJet 4
(not plus) which I was installing for the computer store sales floor.
This time I setup a HP JetDirect port (printing via TCP/IP) on the NT
Server and again I added the computer store group to the printer's
security/permissions section with full control. Yet again, only my boss
and I could print to the printer. He went and installed the HP
JetDirect software on each of the sales floor computers and had each
person print directly to the printer via a HP JetDirect port, by-passing
the server print queue and that worked just fine.

Previously the computer store sales floor had an Apple LaserWriter that
I had setup with a NT Server print queue printing to it via AppleTalk
and everyone in the computer store was able to print to it just fine.

If anyone knows what I might be doing wrong please let me know. I've
never had a problem like this before. Maybe I'm just doing something
    stupid and don't realize it.
