            Yup: You fell into what I call "The NetBIOS name trap." What happens is that a
    NetBIOS computer name can take the form COMPUTER_NAME while the host (DNS) name
    becomes COMPUTER-NAME or computer-name.

            Note well that the underscore _ is changed to a hyphen -
    which means the short answer is to avoid both of these characters.

            ...Don't worry, we've all made this error before!

    PS: Don't waste your time in 95/98/Me: Stick with the NT-based products like
    NT4 & Win2k. After writing this note and postscript I realized (through your
    "slang") that you indeed DID add an NT-based machine to your LAN... And it
    behaved *exactly* as it should: It became the Master Browser via the Computer
    Browser service.

    My suggestion: Please frame your question a little better for future posts to
    avoid confusion. Garbage In, Garbage Out!
