Next message: John Hanks: "RE: [WinMac] Celvin Easy PC."
Hi again,
I just purchased a Fujitsu-Siemens Celvin Easy PC for my kids during the
holidays. This is a legacy-free PC that I purchased while in Finland over
the holidays. The computer came with a original software CD and has the same
software on the hard drive. A UK software CD was not available in Finland. I
need to therefore, reformat the hard drive and install Win 98 SE UK, which I
have - as well as a copy of Partition Magic 6.0.
As this is a legacy-free PC, all peripherals except the monitor need to be
USB. I purchased a USB floppy drive and a Zip 250 USB drive at the same
time. There is a built in CD-ROM drive, but as far as I understand I need to
boot from the floppy drive using emergency floppies. Here are my questions:
1) Can I boot from a USB floppy in Win 98 SE and how?
2) Can I instead create one (1) emergency Zip drive with Partition Magic
installed and boot from that in Win 98? How?
3) If I should instead decide to boot from the CD-ROM and use Scandisk, is
it possible to do this with a system on the hard drive and how?
The idea is to install Win 98 SE (UK) and then install the Celvin drivers
from the Celvin driver CD:
a) Do I lose USB keyboard functionality when booting from emergency
floppies/Zip or the Win 98 SE CD?
b) The keyboard that came with the computer is a Finnish/Swedish keyboard.
Will I have any problems booting up with this in DOS? What I am thinking of
here is whether the default keyboard will be correct or do I need to modify
something to make sure that the keys are in their proper positions?
Cheers,
Brian
