Next message: Tom Roth: "Re: [WinMac] Norton AntiVirus Version 5.0"
Hi again,
I have another question that I am hoping that someone on the list might
be able to answer. A couple of months ago, I had to reformat the drive on
my kid's Aptiva. When I reinstalled the system, I also reinstalled other
programs like Norton AntiVirus. Everything was a fresh install. As far as
I understand, the Live Update feature is supposed to last for a year.
Every time I use the feature, the response I receive is that there are no
new updates. This has been going on for about three months now and I am
concerned about getting the latest virus definitions. Is there some
limitation on Live Update that doesn't allow me to download new
definitions after a certain date... even with a fresh install? If so, it
would have been better if I was told to upgrade. If not, what is the
catch? Can I get new virus definitions through ftp that I can't get with
Live Update? Doesn't Symantec update virus defs every month for Win like
they do for Mac? It would be odd if they didn't as there are so many more
viruses on the PC side.
Cheers,
Brian
