    *summary:

i am attempting to install OSX server on a second 4 gig drive on my
    G3/233MT.

    *problem:

installed 2nd IDE drive, lost both the scsi cdrw and the original IDE
    cdrom.

    *symptoms:

still boots off of main 18 gig IDE drive. uninstalled 2nd drive, still cant
find CD's. the main drive is set to master:cable select, the slave is on the
same ide port, no chart for it so i cant be sure of the jumper settings (its
the original quantum 4gig that came with the mac). the originl cdrom is on
IDE2 alone. the yamaha cdrw is on built in scsi, but could easily be
switched to the adaptec 2930 card in pci slot 1.

    *suspicions:

perhaps if i set the master drive to just plain master?
but why would the cds disappear? should i zap the PRAM?
also, my built in audio input doesnt seem to be very happy- it's having a
strange clipping/gating effect.. possibly my board is doomed?
the charts for the drive jumpers would be good to have..
also, how would i tell the mac which drive to boot off of>? i know you can
set it in a control panel, but there has to be a way to force it at boot
time... cant remember how. perhaps the cables are screwed from too much
twisting and turning trying to get them where they need to go in the
    chassis?

    *emotion:

    aaaargh!

    *goal:

i want to have a happy little dual boot mac with osx server on the secondary
4 gig, and os8.6 on the main 18 gig.

    anyone?
    TIA

    ~Jason
