Greetings. I'm having a problem with a PC monitor adapter and my old
    Performa.

The computer is a Performa 631CD which is in good working condition. I
used to have it connected to a small Mac monitor. However, for a while,
I needed to move it, so I got one of those Interex PC monitor adapters
so it could use an old PC monitor.

Now I want to put it back on the Mac monitor, but it won't work. After
removing the adapter and connecting it to the same Mac monitor it had
used before, the signal is completely scrambled.

The monitor works fine with a different Mac, and the Performa still
works fine with the adapter and PC monitor. It will not work, however,
when I connect it to the Mac monitor.

Does anyone have any ideas why my little Performa won't speak Mac any
    more?

I have tried zapping PRAM, but I have not taken the Performa apart yet.
This is one of those older Macs, where all the guts are hidden inside a
    pretty solid metal case.

Please let me know if you have any ideas that could help.

    Thanks.

    -Chris
