[WinMac] RE: Color Laser Printers

Here's my non-technical assessment...

We also have a HP LaserJet 5M and while it wasn't my first choice, it's a
pretty good printer. I would agree that maintenance is pretty expensive and
would highly recommend keeping a supply of each replaceable part on hand
because there is no prior warning when a part goes down. It seems a little
slow to me, but the quality is good and it's a great workhorse. We have it
on a network being used by both Macs and PC's and there have been no
problems doing so - it just converts back and forth from PCL to Postscript
seamlessly.

My only issue is that the color is not very true, so if you're using it for
graphics, I'd get something else, but if you're looking for a color printer
for the office to use for presentations, etc., it's a good (if slightly
expensive) fit.

Hope this helps -

Stacey
