One word, Brett: Mac OS 9.

OK, it was three words ;-), but the newest OS from Apple has excellent
multi-user capabilities built-in (with a pretty cool interface and full
control of access to programs, files, volumes, printers, CD-ROMs and
settings for each user or set of users).

In addition to a "better At Ease" you get faster performance (very
noticeable), Sherlock II, Shareway IP, improved Voice Recognition,
Fully-Scriptable Finder, OpenGL support, Accelerated IP performance,
etc.... all for only $89 (schools get a special volume licensing price).

We beta-tested it and loved it so much that we've already ordered a few
copies (coming out on the 23rd).

My Macintosh lab in an elementary school is taking up too much of my time
fixing things that the kids have messed up. I have used At Ease in the past
to lock down Macs and would like to put it in the lab.

But I cannot find a vendor who sells it. Does anyone know if it is still in
production (I think that Apple produced it)? If it is no longer available
what are others using to lock the Mac interface?
