Question. Is USB capable of doing this at all? Automatic control from the
UPS?

It is more limited than other ports have been. I understand it is not
bootable for disks, and on Macs it cannot allow the keyboard to reset the
computer. I suppose this is the caveat for a port that can replace almost
every other port used on the computer.

I am asking regardless of platform.
