Thanks for bearing with me on this off-topic post.

I have a Novell 4.1.2 server at a school site on a 10BaseT network. I
connected a new Mac G3 PowerBook (Sys 8.5) to the net. I installed Novell
Mac Client 5.1.1. I'm able to log onto the network.

I used Netware Directory Browser to see the network resources, find the
printer queue I wanted (to an HP workgroup laser printer) and selected it
from the Browse menu. Then I saved the queue to the desktop from the File
menu.

I made copies of this saved file (a UDS1.1 document) and dropped one in my
extensions folder, and one in the folder with the Netware Printer Chooser,
and restarted, just to be safe.

When I open Netware Printer Chooser, no screen pops up (I'm new to using
the Mac client, should one?) with printer choices and the menu choices are
minimal with no choices for selecting a printer. Attempting to use the
Apple Chooser to select the Laserwriter 8 driver doesn't produce the HP
laser printer in the choices of available printers on the right.

So my questions are, is there an intermediate step I'm missing between
using the Novell Directory Browser and their Printer Chooser? Is there
perhaps a conflict between Mac OS System 8.5 and the 2-year old Mac Netware
Client? Is there a solution, or will I have to upgrade to Netware 5.x with
the new Mac client from ProSoft in order to have print services for the
Mac?

Thanks in advance,

Paul
