Dan,

I'm not sure if you're trying to "spin" the news or the inaccuracy is simply
inadvertent, but the FTC's intervention with respect to Apple's tech support
was due to Apple's introduction of "paid" support. Since existing customers
who purchased their Macs with the understanding or guarantee of unlimited
free lifetime support were losing it without either compensation or mutual
agreement, the FTC determined that fair trade practices protected these
consumers and restored their support privileges.

I don't believe the FTC was making any comment upon the cost or quality of
the support itself.
