        Dear Don,

        Be careful with the "System 7.1P" versions... These were special versions
used for early Performa's. Try downloading the two disk Hardware System
Update 3.0 and see if this fixes the problem.

        If that doesn't work, you can try Open Transport 1.1.2, which is
compatible with System 7.1, System 7.1.1, System 7.1.3, and System 7.1.4;
but not System 7.1.2.
