[WinMac] Stylus [WAS: Re: Printing from Windows to AppleShare? - LPR]

        Dear Jeff,

About the only Epson "product" I have seen work flawlessly is the Stylus
5000... `Ya know, the $10,000 printer with the separate Efi RIP. I have a
customer with one of these 6-color babies; and I rank it with 4.5 mice.

[BTW, I only give this otherwise excellent print system 4.5 mice, unlike
the 5 mice rating by the trade rags, because unlike the Pantone Hexachrome
6 color system with its bright orange and bright green 5th & 6th colors to
extend the gamut, the Stylus Pro uses a pale cyan and pale magenta to
achieve better accuracy.]

[This is great for prepress proofing to simulate high quality offset 4
color process printing; but lousy for color accuracy for photographic
reproduction due to it's limited gamut. I just gave an enthusiastically
positive recommendation for this print system to one client (a graphics &
prepress shop); and an equally negative recommendation to another client (a
photography studio)... The prepress shop needed high quality proofs; whilst
the photography shop was better served by his Fujix Pictrography printer.]

        Cheers!
