I have a feeling that blasting M$ is inappropriate in this situation.
Blast Epson who can't seem to make software that works with a printer or
a printer that works with any software.

This series of printers is fairly notorious for difficult printing. I
understand the PC software is usually worse than the Mac, but I have used
the Mac and it is pretty bad. I have a Stylus 600, but the troubles go
all the way through the series.

Now, lest I be destroyed for "trying to sink" Epson through one email
message: This line of printers has the most amazing output I have seen
for the price. I bought and use one despite the software because the
final result was worth the headaches.
