Bob,

The cent character is Option-4 and is available on most standard (and
complete) fonts. I know I've purchase many cheap fonts that don't
contain many non-standard characters.

I use KeyCaps and press the command, control, option, or a combination of
them to find the character I need. There are programs that will print
all characters of a font in a table if that's what you need.
