SCSI-2 HD on a Mac?

Hi all,

I've been a silent observer on the list for several months and the
assistance is bountiful and mostly agreeable. Well, now I have a
question.

I purchased a 9 Gb Micropolis SCSI-2 Int. HD a while back and wanted
to connect it to my PowerMac 6500. Of course it won't fit inside the bay
but I physically connected it via a SCSI adapter to the internal cable,
ran power, configured the jumpers to the best of my knowledge and from
info on the web, etc. Well, when I started up the machine, the drive
would click a little (doing startup checks I suppose) then the mac would
finish booting and nothing would happen. I tried using SCSI Probe, Mt.
Everything, Drive Setup, and PC Exchange. Nothing would recognize that
it even existed on the chain. Right now it's a 5 lb. paperweight doing
nothing. Any ideas?

I can't take it back anywhere because I got it from someone over a
newsgroup (one of those good price for the size deals), paid for COD
(oops). Chances are I got duped into buying a bad drive or something and
I can live with that. If it isn't bad I want to find out why it isn't
appearing on the desktop or being recognized at all. I am unsure of its
format or if it even is.

Has anyone dealt with SCSI-2 to SCSI connections in a Macintosh? If
so, what did you do to make it work? I know a fair bit about SCSI but
I've reached my wits end on what to do here. Comments are appreciated.

TIA,
Michael Peters
