Enough acronyms for ya?

I am interested in purchasing a Smart and Friendly CD-RW 426 Deluxe
External
for use with a Powerbook G3 Series. The PB has lots of RAM and a decent
amount
of HD space. From what I have researched, it sounds like this CD-writer
should
work fine with the Powerbook. I'd be interested in any real-world
experiences
with such things, positive or negative.

One of the things I'd like to be able to do is make PhotoCD discs. I'm
sure that
I will be able to write "PCD" files to CD's using the bundled Toast
software for
the Mac, but I see that there is "Picture CD Creator" software available to
do
more fancy things... under Windows. So, the big question: would I be able
to use
this windows software from Virtual PC on the Powerbook? In general, it
seems that
the rule of thumb is "if the Mac can see it, VPC can see it, unless it's a
PCMCIA
card." Again, I'd be interested in any real-world experience, as well as
opinions
as to why this would or wouldn't work.

Thank you for your support.
