Not so. Windows *still* requires the .XXX extension in order for the
system to comprehend the file type/creator -- it makes the extension
*invisible* within Windows, but you see it when you bring a file onto
the Mac (a great example of the DOS underpinnings of Windows). On the
Mac, this type of information is included internal of the file.

If you're using a Mac, and want your Wintel-counterparts to be able to
easily open the file, it MUST have the .XXX extension. So the question
still stands. IS there something that would add it automatically
without separate or batch processing???
