RE: [WinMac] Using two ISP's on laptops.

We have some Win95 laptops that we use either on a network (NT server,
internet and internal e-mail via MS Exchange, web access via MS proxy
server and ISDN access to ISP) or free-standing with dial-up access to a
different ISP. We use Outlook 98 as the e-mail client.

The following seems to work for us, and may help you:

1) Two Win 95 hardware profiles, one with the network card disabled.
(This is probably only required because we use Xircom network-cum-modem
PC cards, so the network card is present even if the machine's away from
the office.)

2) Two Outlook profiles, one for networked and one for free-standing.
The first includes Exchange but not the ISP e-mail account, the second
includes the ISP account but not Exchange. They share in-box, out-box,
etc.

3) Explorer 4 needs some settings changed according to whether the
laptop is on the network or free-standing. In Internet
Options|Connection, on the network we select "Connect to the Internet
using a local area network" and "Access the Internet using a proxy
server" (don't know about Interjet: does it include a proxy server?).
For dial-up, we select "Connect to the internet using a modem" and have
to clear "proxy server".
