[WinMac] Looking for help on server decision. MAC/NT/ASIP?

Here's my position.
We have around 18 Macs and around 35 PCs inhouse. We have three Novell
servers: 1. Novell 3.1x handling 30 PCs some Mac connections for file
services, and print services for all of the network community. 2. Novell
4.x handling 18 Macs and around 5 PCs connections for files services, and
intranet email for all. 3. Novell 3.1x (5 user license) with Netware
Connect handling 2-4 PCs for internet email.
Here's what I am looking at:
The two Novell 3.1x server's will stay in place. But I am thinking of
replacing the Novell 4.x with something else. Reason for this, is that
we need to upgrade hardware for both servers. So now would be a good
time to switch if there is a big enough benefit. I'am kind of thinking
of ASIP, because it is Apple, some of the services it provides, and that
Novell is handing off it's Mac services to third party. I'm leaning away
from NT, because of the high cost of maintainence, and the Mac services
(heard bad stories). We are looking at getting more Macs inhouse and
therefore the need for robust Mac services on the servers. The 3.1x
server I can live with, we don't do much Mac stuff on it.
Then:
If you can recommend a platform, can you also say something about
upgradability of the software to hardware roles. Such as with Novell, to
upgrade the storage space, you have to make sure the PC has enough RAM to
handle it. Example: right now we have about 15 GB HD and 128MB RAM, and
to upgrade HD we also need to upgrade RAM, something the motherboard
won't allow. So, if you recommend a platform please give suggestions as
to what type of hardware to go along with it. Please give pros and cons
when recommending.
I will give a lenghtly post, and am toying with the idea of making a web
page about all of this information.
