[WinMac] Connecting a 6500 and a NEC Pentium "cheap"??

I have a 6500/225 and a P133 NEC Desktop.
6500 has no Ethernet nor does the NEC.
NEC does have a USB port.

System 8.1 and 8.5...and windoz98

Whats a "cheap" way to connect the two in a network to "transfer" many jpg
files.

AppleTalk? Phone connectors? Buy Ethernet cards for both? Software?

I have never connected a Mac and a PC.

I also have a 6100 now that has a a "ethernet" connection. Use that instead?
