[WinMac] NT Server and Bobbing Icons in Mac List View

This is more of an irritation than anything, but we have a mixed
platform department, and share an NT server. Our Macs all run either
OS 8.0 or 8.1.
When the Macs access the NT server and view a directory in List View,
the list appears to expand and contract in size as icons double-up
(one below the other), then revert back to normal. And while I did say
it was mostly an irritation, it does make it difficult when you want
to select one of these bobbing icons.
Has anyone had a similar experience? And what did you do to solve the
problem? This does not appear to occur when you are viewing the
directory in normal Icon View -- only List View. And sometimes it
appears to settle down once the window has been open for a little
while; other times not.
