I am using Outlook (Exchange Client for Mac, Outlook 98 for PC) on both
platforms and have sent several test files back and forth and have no
problems. When the PC's access an attachment, do they save with a .bin
extension? I did have this problem a while back, but installing Alladin
Expander (free at http://www.aladdinsys.com/ and numerous shareware download
sites) on the PCs solved it.
Exchange Internet Mail Connector has options that allow you to set
attachment format on outgoing mail. I have found that MIME/Plain Text causes
the fewest problems for us, YMMV. If you are using an internet client on the
Macs (Outlook Express, Eudora, etc.) then this mail setting may apply to
your situation.
As far as I can tell, Exchange Client for Mac (Outlook, not Outlook Express)
doesn't have settings for how attachments are encoded because it doesn't
know about internet mail and stores attachments in whatever format exchange
mailboxes use.

i have a client using the Exchange server and outlook on both the windows
and macintoshes. we are having a problem sending files interoffice from
the macintosh to the windows side...they are getting encoded into format
windows cannot understand...even if we switch the encoding on the
macintosh client to something none maclike (like MIME).
is there a server setting for properly endcoding files for interoffice
communications?
i'm their macintosh consultant, so i don't touch the exchange server, but
if i have a direction to point the wondws guys in it would be great. they
claim this is a macintosh poulook client problem.
any help is appreciated.
