WinMac Manager,

How difficult would it be to have links on this html doc list so that
the Responses listed at the beginning of each digest can be
mouse-clicked in our email browser to jump to that Re: in the digest?

Must be a program that would easily do that. It seems that if this
digest was edited in Netscape, or perhaps in BB-edit, that the URL tags
for jumping to the Re:'s could be relatively easily "search and
replaced". Perhaps AppleScript could even do it in TeachText or SimpleText.

I'm not a programmer, but couldn't this be done.

The digests would become much easier to navigate and read and a real pleasure.

Any ideas? Any suggestions from you programmers out there?

Sorry if this is a stupid inquiry/suggestion.

God Bless you all for this venture, this digest.

I really like the Mac. There are so many IS people out there who
denigrate the Mac to the nth degree. They know not what they do . . .
that is the category they must be put in.

The PC is wonderful for those who have the time and wherewithal to learn
its many intricate details. The Mac is for the masses who need a simple
yet profound creative tool and can follow simple directions.

I agree with Mr. Dan Schwartz (?) who said that the KISS rule applies
(Keep It Simple Silly), but at the same time, if you do not want to KISS
with your system's configuration then you had better have a Mac because
KISS is built-in to the Mac to a profound degree and hopefully always
will be.

When I see techs ambivalently moving away from the Mac and embracing the
Wintel environments, it reminds me of a fly moving toward a fly trap or
a car approaching a cliff (Y2k) and as long as we all get caught
together everything will be ok. . . .

. . . but that's just me being melodramatic. I know that both
platforms can do the job and that there are others that can do better
than the both of them.

I also know that the Mac deserves better than it usually gets, usually.
It has many faults, could be much better (built in graphics acceleration
is long overdue), priced too high (most of the time), never puts its
best foot forward (no firewire on the imac).

But the Mac is a computer and OS of promise. It extends our hopes, our
dreams, our abilities and creativity's. It is the computer that has
inspired in its users the idea that we can do it all and that is why the
Mac has had such a devoted community of users.

We know it is not the machine or the OS of themselves, but it is the
idea that inspired and that drives the machine and OS and the community
which we admire and perhaps would say "Love".

The Mac idea is an admirable one. We hate to let it go for . . . what
? . . for a wintel ? . . . a generic idea that stifles the life out of
you . . . or seems to. No other computing system has this grand idea
wed to it, to be all things to all computing environments.

The Mac and Mac community has carried this torch, perhaps poorly at
times, but it has persevered in carrying it . . . against all odds . . .
and even to this moment.

The Mac won't die unless/until they abandon this idea or another takes
it up in the Macs place.

Some might say one reason Christianity has lasted till now is that it is
a wonderful idea and belief . . . Love and Mercy along with, but not
secondary to, a strict sense of Justice and moral character all joined
in a HOLY HOPE of Salvation for those who have this FAITH. We need such
ideas to function together with good will toward others. The Mac fits
right in. Mac people usually enjoy helping one another.

The Mac is not a religion but it fits right in with the religious way
people need to live.

Hey, the Mac even fits for a complete independent or atheist. Atheist
live a religiously unconstrained life. They religiously want to order
their own lives any way they see fit. No man is an island, but if he
wants to be, the Mac offers him an ordered environment in which he has
the freedom to try anything. Atheism and Religion are not that easy to
distinguish in all circumstances. They have many common traits.

In a way the Mac is only a computer . . . but in another way it is so
much more than that . . . and that is why the Mac/Wintel battle
resembles a religious war at times. However, true religious peoples
show Mercy and Love toward those they deem to be less fortunate and so
should we all.

And that is why this Win/Mac digest is a wonderful gift to both
platforms and should be readily commended by all.
