Re the sizing issue, I don't have PPT, but none the less it seems that
Power Point is assuming that the file is set for Screen Presentation and is
therefore making it scal to 72 DPI. In my understanding the relative
"size" in inches, and the "size" in DPI, are pretty much relative... and
that the real measurement of most pictures are the "pixels" themselves. If
a file is 36 DPI and measures 2" x 2" on a screen, my guess is that PP
would scale it up to 72 DPI and drop it down to about 1 x 1"... Most Web
Graphics and "Screen Graphics" in general do not need to have more dpi than
72 if built right.. We usually use more DPI because of printing needs where
fundamental resolution rather than display speed are important.
My thoughts about it anyway.

But, another question I have is why does PPT not respect the size of the
image file being imported? Many times when I import a TIF or JPG that's
been sized to say 4"x6" at 300dpi in Photoshop the image once imported into
PPT is much larger and I have to shrink it down to get it back to the 4"x6"
size.
