[WinMac] MS Proxy with Mac apps

Has anyone had any luck doing ftp uploads from a Mac through Microsoft
Proxy 2.0?

The only program that will use ftp at all is Netscape and IE, and thats
only for downloads, I can't get Netscape to upload, or Fetch, Anarchie,
or any other ftp protocol.

I thought I'd be able to do this using the SOCKS proxy option in all
these programs but that doesn't work either.

Whats the story with SOCKS anyway? Is it an accepted standard?

TIA for any advice.....
