[WinMac] Condoms [WAS:Re: Tape Backup on NT Server]

        Dear Tommy,

Let's put it in "Californicate" terms, since obviously your bosses don't
understand "dollars & cents" like we do on the East Coast! :)

Would you skimp on a vending machine condom when having sex with your
partner, with the stakes so high today? Yes, DAT tape cartridges don't cost
much... But, using the condom analogy, if a single cell of an HIV virus
slips through a condom -- or a bit gets "flipped" in a DAT backup -- Can
your boss withstand the consequences?

BTW, as I write this, I reminded myself that one always needs to scan for
virii when backing up: One cause of data failure that is often overlooked
is virus contamination... Normally one thinks about backing up in case of a
casualty (fire/theft) or hard drive crash.

        Cheers!
