I have the same problem where a file created in Windows 95 with more than
31 characters stored on a Novell 3.11 server crashes the Macintosh clients
accessing that directory. I believe that it is an acknowledged bug with
Novell 3.11 that lets the Windows client use file names that are too long
when Macintosh services for Novell are installed. A patch is available for
this problem from Novell but I haven't had the guts to install it yet since
they recommend reinstalling the NOS from scratch and then restoring your
files from backup.
