It sounds like you have broken the IP configuration on the gateway. I assume Copstalk (I've never used it) loads an appletalk stack on the wintel box and that it is correctly configured. This would explain why
you can use appleshare.All the other aps you mention are based on TCP/IP. I would go back in and rebuild IP settings. Oh, and get rid of that vpn stuff! That should take care of the problem.
