John, according the MS documentation, the MS UAM for Mac does encrypt the
entire logon sequence, including the password. That is the primary point of
the module. I haven't done a packet capture to confirm this myself, but it
doesn't make sense that the password would be send free and clear. Not even
for a Microsoft product.
