        Jeff:

        In addition to an NT Spooler "capturing" an AppleTalk printer, it could
also be an IP addressing problem, especially if you have a DHCP server on
the LAN. HP printers like to "grab" a dynamically assigned IP address and
keep it in it's NVRAM -- And all hell breaks loose! :(

        Even if the AppleTalk printer is captured on an NT Server's "Print Server
for Macintosh" Service, the printer will STILL show up in the Mac's Chooser
(maybe under a different name) with a blue "spool" icon when it is selected.

        Another possible fix is to throw away the LaserWriter 8 Pref file and then
Zap the PRAM on the Mac. Reselect Ethernet in the AppleTalk Control Panel
and then try your LaserWriter 8 Chooser Extension in your Chooser again.
