[WinMac] HP 4000 Printer Problem

We have a strange problem that no one seems to be able to fix and I was
wondering if anyone had any suggestions.

We have a ethernet network of Macs and PCs. All computers are using peer
to peer networking to share files, we don't share files between macs, but
we do share the printer.

It is an HP4000. On the Mac side it just plugs into the network. On the
PC side, a PC has to act as a print server.

Recently, all the Macs could not find the printer. The PC could and if we
hooked the printer up directly over LocalTalk the Mac could find it.
However, using ethernet, none of the macs could find the printer using
the Chooser.

Does anyone have any idea why this would start happening. It just started
one morning.

This is very similar to a computer we have runing 8.1. It seems to lose
the printer randomly and the only way to find it again is to shut down
and reboot. This works 50% of the time. Shutting down twice always gets
the printer back.

Is this a virus, or some weird conflict?

THanks for your help.
