I was in the same market as you for an all-in-one solution for my wife's
at-home business. The requirements are light. Not finding anything that
was satisfactory I ended up buying a UMAX 1200S scanner for a little over
$200 and kept my LaserWriter II NTX, fax software, and modem. For
copying I scan 300 dpi 1-bit. For faxing I scan 200 dpi 1-bit. It works
like a charm and I have an excellent (by small office standards) scanner
to boot.
