Just upgraded to OS 8.0 on my Performa 476 at home. Also installed an Asante
ethernet card at the same time. Would like to share the internet connection
on my PC (would prefer to use the PC, since it has a slightly faster modem,
more ram, and more processor cycles to devote to any proxy tasks). But, I
can't seem to get them to talk to each other at all.

Have properly installed the card in the PC and set the IP address, etc (do
this every day at work, so I'm pretty well versed in it) But I'm not sure
how to do it on the Mac. What settings to use in which control panels...
Probably should have done one thing at a time, but it's too late for that
now. Anyway, using Ping on the PC doesn't turn up the Mac (am using a
crossover cable). I will likely use WinProxy, since that's what we use at
work. I don't need (yet) filesharing or anything else. I just want to share
an internet connection. Where should I start? (BTW, the information in
the Asante manual, which I have read, doesn't seem to contain any
information
on MacOS 8.0. Also, can find nothing on their web site).

BTW, first post. Been lurking since TidBITS published the mention a few
months back.
