I want to benchmarks VPC and softwindows, but they perform
rather poorly on WinBench. Is than another (freeware or
low-cost shareware) benchmarking tool than anyone can
recommend?
Please send ideas to me, and I will post a summery to the
list.
Much thanks,

I have sold and my clients are very happy with Meeting Maker from On
Technology. The current version is Y2K compat. And within the next
version or two, they will be integrating the product to internet based
technology.
I recommend that anybody interested in cross platform scheduling or even
single platform scheduling check it out!

Sounds like a DNS setting problem. On a win95 machine that has trouble
resolving the name of you home page, enter the IP address of the server, and
see if it comes right up. If it does you have to look to see what DNS the
Macs are using the win95 machines are not.
ex 6.6.6.6/myhomepage.htm
where 6.6.6.6 is the IP address of your server.
Good luck,
Tom

Hi,
i have experience the CuSeeMe software from Whitepine. i use the software
both on my Mac Laptop and PC desktop.. let me tell you this has been by far
the best Videoconfrencing software i have used...
Hector
Can it be done? Yes
What software? CuSeeMe (www.wpine.com){whitepine)
What video hardware? well i simply had a small hand held cam-corder
laying around, but them simple round objects would
work... whole lot cheaper...
What kind of Internet connection would be required from the engineer's
home? simple isp connection, unless you have a secruity dynamics server.

I have the Belkin "solution" with the extra Mac Adaptor using a PC monitor
connected to a PB 3400 and an older Gateway P5-90.
The video is fine. My problem was in the way the PC keyboard was mapped to
the Mac side. Keys were sticking. Not just text or number keys buy the
command keys as well. It was very annoying. There are DIP switches you
change on the box to map to the different keyboards. I tried swapping both
101 and 104 PC keyboards with the same result. No luck.
I'm still using it. But I have 2 keyboards now.
That's my story.

I'm thinking of selling my Power Mac 8500/120 w/ 100 MhZ pentium card and
buying a Powerbook G3/250 and using Virtual PC 2.0 for doing windows
development. So far, I've been satisfied with the speed of my 100MHz
pentium card, and was wondering if anyone had any experience with serious
use of Virtual PC on a G3 machine. MacWeek published some benchmarks a few
weeks ago from which I'm guestimating that VPC/G3 would be about as fast as
my Pentium/100 card...
please cc: mike@xochi.com thanks!

I've been using VPC 2.0.1 for about a month now on a PB G3/250/13.3 with
160MB RAM. I have Win95 setup with 64MB of RAM and a 1GB HD file, and I run
Outlook97, Access97, PageMaker 6.5 and PhotoShop 4.0 LE -- all faster than
on my IBM ThinkPad 760CD (P90) and my wife's NEC 2530 (P133). I would guess
it's at least P166-MMX-class performance. It works with our Novell/NT/Win95
network flawlessly. I don't do any development, though...
The biggest potential problem you could have is the fixed screen resolution
of a PB. It's 1024x768, so if you do a lot of development at 640x480 or
800x600, you'll have a smaller image in a window, or a full-screen with a
black border all around. Doesn't bother me (I run Win95 at 800x600x256
colors), but it may be an issue if you want to see things "full size."
