I'm using Virtual PC 2 on a UMAX J700 in which I've installed the Newer
Technologies G3 upgrade (220Mhz, 512Kb L2 cache). I use it mostly for web
work, not for development. But most of the time it runs at quite an
acceptable speed, quite comparable to the speed I've experienced on Compaq
Pentium MMX computers running Windows 95 or NT. One problem occurred when I
installed Microsoft Internet Explorer 4. I installed the active desktop for
Windows 95 at the same time by mistake (it's an option included with the
Internet Explorer installer) and boy! that really slowed everything down. I
would definitely stay away from the active desktop. (The folks at Connectix
were able to help me uninstall this in two minutes.)

I do a lot of FileMaker Pro development, and I'm about to buy FileMaker Pro
for Windows and start working with it under Virtual PC. I'm very confident
that it will work fine.

I have used Virtual PC 2 just a little on my PowerBook 1400 as well; I have
the Nupowr 187Mhz cpu upgrade (256Kb L2 cache). Even on the Powerbook,
Windows 95 runs pretty well. Everything slows down very noticeably when I
connect to the Internet, but otherwise even on the powerbook, which has a
MUCH slower CPU than my UMAX machine, Virtual PC runs Windows 95 nicely.
