I found an easy way to get users onto email -quickly and for free- was to
use Eudora's Internet Mail Server (EIMS) which was originally Apple's own
mail software. I've had this running on a "tote" Mac (SE/30) supporting an
ad-hoc workgroup of up to 16 Mac users. Client Macs used Eudora Light; your
Windows systems could use the same s/w or the Internet mail client that
ships with Win95/98/NT.

The thing may not be the "best" solution, but it *works*
