This is true for every powerbook since the 1x0's. But if you plug in an
external keyboard, you can use the power key on that to turn it on.

There's nothing wrong with carrying a "live" computer across a room
or down a hall. Without a sleep mode, it would be preferable to turning
it off. And if something is compiling, rendering, or whatnot, it might
good to use your walking time as processing time. There've been a few
times in the past could of years that I'd wished my powerbook didn't
sleep when closing the lid. Hell, sometime, I close the lid to get it
out of the way while I jot something down on paper, or sign something,
and am annoyed at the delay in waking it up.

The only powerbooks without video out are the Duos/2400 (subnotebook) and
the 1400 (which does have video out as an expansion option). Video
mirroring has become the standard, rather than multiple monitors, but
with the lid closed, video mirroring is what you would want. (some of
the cheapest 1x0's also lacked video out, but they're hardly an issue
these days).

>(3) The 190 doesn't have an exhaust fan, I don't think, so yes, much of
The new G3 Series (Wallstreet) are the first powerbooks for which Apple
officially says NOT to run it with the lid closed, I belive. Others work
as described above.

As mentioned above, turn it on that way with an external monitor.
