Whoa whoa whoa...
Off (sleep) when you close the lid:
- All Duos
- 500 series
- 5300/190 series
- 1400
- 3400/G3/Wall Street
NO ACTION when you close the lid
- Well, everything else (basically the entire 100 series)
I have never tried turning on from an external keyboard with the lid shut,
however. I would think the mocroswitch's position would be sensed
immediately and the unit would just go back to sleep again...

When the original PowerBooks came out there was a whole lot of hoo-hah
about this. A bicycle courier in New York put any doubts to rest be
carrying a PB170 in its awake state in is backpack for the duration of a
harrowing typical drive across Manhattan. No advers effects to the PB were
noted.

"extra" Monitors (additional desktop space):
- 500 series
- 160 & 180
- 190
- 1400 (I think)
- 5300
Mirroring only (VGA connector):
- 3400
- G3
- Wall Street
